ProQuest has now been involved with this fantastic event for several years, during which time nearly $1 million dollars has been raised to build new facilities for the Ronald McDonald House in Newcastle.
This Saturday, August 28th, the 2010 event starts and we’re aptly calling it “The Million Dollar Ride”
This year, we’ve expanded the website in a number of ways but continued to leverage from what we’ve built over the past four years. The key philisophy has been to utilise best of breed hosted applications and plug them together into a coherent whole. If your non-profit needs help in achieving the same kind of result – feel free to contact Jeanette at our Sydney office (who by the way did a fabulous job getting this year’s website organised)
Here’s what we use…..I haven’t linked them all because what we’d really like you to do is go to our Facebook page and like us! The more the better – and we can impress the sponsors
- Wordpress for the main website
- Thesis a premium, highly configurable Wordpress theme from DIYThemes
- A Brisbane-based web designer who focusses on Wordpress/Thesis design
- Aweber for best-in-class permission-based email management
- FLICKR for comprehensive photo gallery capability (over 3000 photos)
- YouTube to host videos
- Animoto for rapid rendering of short movies- for example the one you see in the top right hand corner of the home page)
- Twitter for …er…tweeting.
- Facebook FanPage for main social media networking
- Google Maps for itineraries.
Not many surprises, and not rocket science….. but we made most of these choices four years ago, and they seem to be the right ones. The result is a relatively straightforward framework, and any non-profit can implement something like this to achieve a good result.
